The AI Governance Playbook - For founders, operators, and creators who are using AI.
AI governance is moving fast. Most founders I talk to are trying to keep up while also running a business, building a product, and doing everything else that comes with being a small team without a legal department on call. I started this newsletter to close that gap.
AI Governance Playbook is a twice-weekly briefing covering AI regulation and policy across the USA, UK, and EU.
Every Monday I give you a plain-English rundown of what requires action or awareness that week.
Every Thursday I cover the bigger picture - what’s moving through legislative and regulatory pipelines, and what it means for your business over the next three to six months.
No jargon. No hedging. No padding. Just what you need to know, and what to do about it.
Who I am
I’m a retired CEO, COO, and CTO with decades of experience at the sharp end of business decisions. As one of a three-person team, I executed a $200m+ debt equity management buyout, at the time the fastest and largest of its kind. I know what it means to make high-stakes calls under pressure, and I know that the difference between a good decision and a bad one is usually the quality of the information you had going in.
I also write AI Prompt Hackers, which has grown to 22,000 subscribers since I launched it. That taught me what AI practitioners actually want to know, and what they're not getting from the coverage that already exists.
AI Governance Playbook came out of that gap. You shouldn’t need a law firm on retainer just to understand what’s happening in AI regulation and what it means for your business. Clear, timely analysis should be accessible to any founder, not just the ones with legal budgets.
Of course, when a specific regulatory question has real consequences for your business, you should get proper legal advice.
Who it’s for
Founders, operators, and creators who are using AI. Particularly relevant if you operate across the UK, US, or EU, or if your work touches financial services, healthcare, HR and hiring, media and publishing, legal services, edtech, or retail and adtech.
If you want to know what the rules are, where they’re heading, and what to do before they arrive, this is for you.
